About

I like being manipulated. There, I said it. In fact, I can’t get enough of it. Now, before you get ahead of yourself, this isn’t some strange confession where I’m going to reveal some quirky interest of being taken advantage of. Instead it’s an apology, or rather a defense of why everyone should enjoy being manipulated.

Just think, have you ever been to see your favorite band? The whole experience seems endless and yet the next morning it’s a blur, a dream. The melodies moved you, sent shivers down your spine and you smiled. You were moved. You felt above the world and that you could do anything.

I enjoy those endless moments and I seek them out whenever I have the chance to, but the ones I cherish the most come unexpectedly. They’re a gift. It could be an ad on the TV, a glance into someone’s eyes or a breathtaking sunset on the way home from work. Even though I can’t control when they happen, I try to dwell as long as possible in those moments and steal what little I can until I chance on them again.

I grew up in Indiana with four brothers. We loved playing in the backyard, jumping off curbs with our mountain bikes and building lego forts while singing “made up” war songs, inspired from the Hobbit cartoon movie.

My father is a pastor and my mother a teacher, both of whom are extremely driven and have a tireless work ethic. Needless to say I’ve learned a lot from the two of them.

I initially went to school for Chemistry at Monmouth College in western Illinois, but quickly discovered that blowing stuff up and making cool reactions happened few and far between all of the math and equations I had to do in the meantime. Go figure.

It took a little while, but I eventually ended up at Wisconsin Lutheran College and decided to follow my heart and do what I love: create. Since a Media Design major wasn’t offered at the time, I tailor-made an interdisciplinary Communicative Arts major to be the artist and designer I wanted to be.

Some interesting stories/hobbies you should ask me about:

I fell in love in Paris with my wife Meghan thus fulfilling my desire to live a Hollywood cinema romance

I’ve played competitive chess at both the state and national levels

I am constantly watching movies you’ve never heard of, but answer a few questions and I’d love to share one I think you’d like

When reading I prefer the classics, especially the great Russian novelists such as Tolstoy, Dostoevsky and Gogol

I’m an avid golfer who can’t get to the links enough, but when I can’t I always have my discs ready for a quick game of frolf
